June 28 – Vermont

June 28th, 2012

Shooting Daily for the Times Argus – Today my only assignment was a race at Thunder Road, with the rest of the day I shot features including some photos at the Central Vermont Humane Society and a newly re-opened pedestrian bridge in Montpelier.

Central Vermont Humane Society volunteer Virginia Barry holds a group of kittens at the Humane Society shelter on Vermont 14 in East Montpelier. Virginia has been a volunteer at the shelter for four years, one of her duties is assigning “felinalities”, a controlled system of catagorizing the personality of cats developed by the Humane Society of America. “I also get to do the other glamorous stuff like washing the litter boxes” says Barry who recently assigned her 100th Felinality profile. Summer is kitten season in Vermont and the CVHS has been receiving a steady flow of kittens for adoption. During this time of the year when there are so many kittens available for adoption some of the older cats at the shelter are overlooked, but their are many adult cats at the shelter that are also in need of a good home.

The pedestrian bridge is back open for business in downtown Montpelier. After being blocked off for several months due to a deteriorating support structure the bridge is open again with a nice new wood deck giving it “that new-bridge smell”
